Videos, music, or tutorials for my fans!

It’s been awhile since I announced anything on here, but the truth is I never stopped creating 😁 I went underground, to be sure, and stopped streaming and playing live for awhile. But I had some technical problems with my streaming setup that made it difficult to stream without significant capital investment. Enter: NFT.

NFT is the Magical Key to the Metaverse

Despite taking a break from public life, I have still been grinding in the studio. I’ve also been learning the arcane art of minting music NFTs to unleash a torrential storm of dope new content. Content that you can own, trade, and maybe in the future rent out or even use as collateral for loans.

Helloooo Metaverse and NFT!
I’d hodl your NFT any time, wink

In addition, I am researching ways of providing exclusive perks by holding my NFTs in your wallet. For example, if you hold a “Ryan Cohen’s Wild Ride” NFT, you’d unlock a NFT-holder only page. That page gives you download access to the song at any time in any format you choose (FLAC, WAV, MP3-320). Holding the special “shiny” version of the NFT would earn access to a special “member’s only” page. Keep in mind, this is all in the research phases, so it may be awhile before implementation.

Some (not all) of my NFTs will additionally represent the copyright associated with my music, giving you the ability to listen to, remix, combine, or otherwise repurpose my music and yes… release and monetize it in any form you choose. These special edition 1/1 “rightshodlers” editions of my NFTs would give you the explicit legal right to use my work as long as you share 50% of the revenue from said work with me (DJ Robzilla).

A New Frontier

I’m still fleshing all this out in my head but I’m really excited to be able to offer these new services to y’all. And at a much cheaper cost to myself than if I didn’t use NFTs. People often ask, “What is the use case of NFTs even?” And for me as a musician the answer is clear. Streaming services take a huge cut of streaming revenue, likewise for iTunes and Bandcamp.

View of the NFT Metaverse
A new fantastic point of view

By releasing these songs as NFTs I am able to save a ton of money on paying for expensive middlemen. And when you trade my NFTs on public marketplaces, I automatically get a cut of said revenue. This is a win-win. You get a tradeable asset and can support my music by selling your copy if you ever want extra cash.

And since I’m saving all that money, I can pass on the savings and still make just as much from my art as before. I don’t want to be one of these people selling their music for 1 MILLION DOLLARS or something ridiculous like that. If you think it’s worth that much go ahead and resell it for that much. But I’ll price my initial releases closer to what you would expect to pay on iTunes for a song.

More Than Fancy, Expensive JPEGs

NFTs are so much more than fancy expensive JPEGs. They enable a host of new use cases that we as artists are only just tapping the surface of. As such, I am excited to release four proof of concept NFT Interactive Music Players that hold 1-2 songs each. Each player is a limited run of various rarities listed below.

Keep it chonky indeed.

SONIC BOOM! Here comes another beat tape to slap in your favorite media player and nod your head to. Out now, is my newest instrumental beat tape: “An Evening with Reginald The Rangoon”. Is his top-hat made of his flesh or is his flesh made of top-hat? Reginald screams, for he does not know.

I crafted this beat tape as a true labor of love. I dug up some gems from the archives and doctored them up with some mastering love, whipping out my increasingly polished skills in Ableton. Speaking of, did you know that Ableton is running a promotion right now that’ll get you a free upgrade to the latest version of Ableton when you upgrade from 10? I swear this isn’t an ad, I am only doing my part to help keep producers sounding fresh.

I made this beat tape in the hopes that those who would listen to it would do the right thing: Eat the rich.

You can even follow my music on Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, and more by visiting my HyperFollow page so you can bump my beat tapes in the car on the way to work.

Although, buying my music from Bandcamp is by far the best way to support: so visit music.djrobzilla.net and gently apply pressure to the follow button to receive occasional updates from me when I release new music.

And what’s that faint whistling on the horizon…? Is that… the brewings of a beat tape coming on New Years Day? It MUST be. Official announcement coming this December 15th.

Soon.

You heard me right… I just released a new beat tape for the first time in, well… ages. It’s been a long time coming but I am BACK in full force with more music planned for quick release soon. So def stay tuned to my website and/or Patreon for further news on even more releases!

This newest beat tape is a compilation of beats I have made in the last few years. I have a ton more where this came from so don’t sleep! Tons of boom bap drums and smooth sample-free synths.

I am making this album available under the Creative Commons as well, so feel free to download, remix and share! You can stream my beats on your Twitch stream, use them in your YouTube videos, or anything else you want as long as you credit DJ Robzilla and link to my website at https://www.djrobzilla.net somewhere in the description of your video or stream.

I am not letting up on my quest to ship you pallets of dope content, week after week. In addition to the Twitch stream every Saturday and Sunday from 5-7 PM, I have officially begun my YouTube journey by starting a tutorial series on skratching. Last week I officially announced that I would be releasing the first tutorial video soon… and here it is!

If you want ensure you buy the right equipment before you start skratching… watch this first!

This first video lays out how you’ll be procuring your first skratching setup. In it, I offer equipment recommendations, the prices you can expect to pay for each piece of equipment and some different ideas on how you can put together your first setup if this is your first time looking into learning skratching. Please watch, like this video and subscribe to get notified whenever I release new content! I’ll see you Saturday at 5 PM on Twitch 🙂

WOW! Much excite! For the first time ever, I am offering Turntablism Tutorials. This has been a long time coming, but due to various factors like a lack of money for equipment I hadn’t gotten things off the ground.

Until now!! I plan on releasing a new tutorial every single week covering everything from the most basic aspects of DJing to extremely advanced, secret techniques for turntable pros. So subscribe to my YouTube channel to get notified when I post new videos! See you next week 🙂
