I made this beat the morning after I found out Philando Castile died of gunshot wounds inflicted by police. After seeing the footage, I felt disgusted, angry, despondent, depressed, and hopeless all rolled into one. I needed an outlet, and so I set down to making a beat. I tried to capture the capriciousness and sadness of the event with the inspiringly black art form of Boom Bap music. What do you think?

Here’s a little snippet of my skratch practice session the other day. Beat is the “Nobody Speak” instrumental from DJ Shadow feat. Run the Jewels. Skratch sample is the ever so recognizable “fresh” from… like every battle record ever made. This particular “fresh”, was from Gag Ball Breaks, my pet favorite battle record.
